Europe 2009

Last year my better half and I went to Europe. It was the trip of a life time and included a brief stay in Calgary Canada on the way to London. From there we went on a jaunt through Croatia, Slovenia and Germany before a two day stay in Dubai on the way home. The experience was surreal and featured a few purchases you may be interested in.
The two main purchases were a couple of Lamy pencils. I bought them along Oxford Street London in Debenhams at The Pen Shop.

Both pens came in the same style of case which you can see above and below.

They remain to this day the two most expensive purchases I have made. One is the famous Lamy Scribble and the other is a Lamy Studio Steel Twin. I almost never bought the two pencils too. The staff at the store were snooty and had no interest in serving me. I probably stod out as an Antipodean and wanted none of my kind there ;) (just joking). Anyway, there was a shift change, right while I was there and a friendly lady took me through their range of mechanical pencils. It is amazing the difference good service can make.

Down the street, still on Oxford but in a news agency/stationery store, I found some Perfect Pencils and a Faber-Castell Graphite 760 (.5).

Then in Slovenia I picked up a Rotring entry level mechanical pencil.

Space was at a premium because we were backpacking so there was barely room for these pencils let alone much else. Money too became scarce toward the end of our trip. Thankfully London was early on the itinerary or I may not have the two Lamys right now. In time I will review both the Scribble and the Steel Studio Twin.
