A Quirky Pen Stand

I have been clearing out cupboards in the house recently in an attempt to free up space and de-clutter.  In the process I came across this quirky little pen stand.  It can hold three pens but I used to use it to hold letter openers.

It is years old now.  I bought it with some pocket money when I was around 14 years old and lived in Africa.  It appears to be holding up very well though.

The underside has been chiseled probably to create grip on the desktop it was made for.

I have noticed many stationery websites use pen stands to hold the pens and pencils they review.  Perhaps I could do the same with this interesting piece.  I have certainly sen nothing like it recently so it would be original.  I wonder how the brown colour would serve in photos however.  It may not be the best background to a pen or pencil.  I'll give it a shot anyway I think.
