Opinion
You know how it is. A quick trip into Officeworks for something necessary and you leave with a few items that are unnecessary. This item fell into the latter category for me. Costing less than 5 dollars AUD it was easy to add to the shopping basket. Now, months later I finally get to review it.
The rubber grip is no softer than the plastic barrel and so isn't really a selling point. The eraser is too small to be effective or to last very long. I'm not sure if refills are available either. Whilst the pencil feels cheap it is definitely serviceable. At this price point you can't really expect more. The pencil comes with a refill case, and let's face it, they are always welcome.
I experienced far too many lead breaks when using this pencil. This is despite promises on the packaging that the retractable sleeve would reduce or eliminate this very problem. On a positive note I liked the lead refill design that prevents accidental openings (unlike the Pentel Twist-Erase which often pulls apart when taken from a pen sleeve). To refill your lead with the Paper Mate Pacer 300 you have to twist the lead advance button until it comes loose and exposes the lead chute.
Verdict: cheap but serviceable
